Who We Are

  • Publishing has been a lifelong passion, inspired by my grandfather and father who were involved in various aspects of the industry. Born in the United States and raised in the English countryside, I began my career in academic publishing in Warsaw, Poland, where my family has its roots. With a background in Mathematics, I entered the field through data analysis before moving into senior roles, including Director of Strategy at De Gruyter and Director of Central European University Press. Today, I lead De Gruyter Brill’s Polish office and serve as EVP of Product & Publisher Relations at Paradigm.

  • I’ve been a part of scholarly communication and publishing for over 30 years. After studying ancient and medieval history at Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia, I started my publishing career at Wesleyan University Press. I then held senior editorial positions at Penn State University Press and Cornell University Press before returning to Virginia Tech, where I started a digital-first, open-access publishing program based in the library. All of this has led me to engage ever more deeply with the challenge of helping academic publishers find sustainable approaches to OA book publishing, which included serving as the lead for TOME (Toward an Open Access Monograph Ecosystem) and my current role at De Gruyter eBound.

  • I received my BA in literature from Missouri State University in 2018 before moving to Boston to pursue a graduate degree in publishing and writing at Emerson College. Publishing had long been my chosen career path, given my passion for books and academia. While in graduate school I was offered an internship at De Gruyter’s Boston office, which introduced me to many aspects of academic publishing. When I became a full-time employee at De Gruyter, I had the opportunity to work with sales, operations, and finance, as well as the publisher partner program. I began working with eBound in 2023, and I’m excited to work with all the stakeholders going forward.
