Deborah Lenares

Deborah Lenares is the Senior Analyst and Strategist for Collections and Budget at the MIT Libraries, where she leads holistic strategy for collection management and oversees the Libraries’ general collections budget. With a focus on equity, sustainability, and the transformation of scholarship to open access, she directs the development of strategies and processes that ensure the Libraries meet the evolving information needs of the MIT community.

Over a 25-year career, Deborah has held leadership roles in academic and corporate libraries, including Wellesley College and Air Products and Chemicals, where she guided large-scale transitions from print to digital collections and led consortial contract negotiations. Her expertise spans strategic planning, budget management, vendor relations, and staff development.

Deborah holds an M.L.I.S. from Louisiana State University and a B.S. in Chemistry from the College of New Rochelle.
